Michael Sinatra is a Italian American jazz musician/vocalist/entertainer from San Diego California. Michael grew up in a multi-talented family, rich with a storied musical tradition. Like his father before him as child his interest in music started at a young age playing drums and percussion in concert, marching bands and symphony orchestras. Years later the crooner started singing and entertaining at public venues as well as country clubs and private events. His passion to perform big band, jazz, blues, Italian crooner ballads and other song standards from the "Great American Songbook" inspired him to perform professionally. Michael packs enthusiastic energy into a powerful interactive performance and has been hailed by critics as “Excellent Entertainer”. As a Southern California native Michael grew up in a multi-talented family, rich with a storied musical tradition. Michael’s great grand parents were from Palermo Sicily. The family immigrated into the United States of America through Ellis Island in the New York Bay & Canada into Michigan. HIs grandfather was a singer & accordionist, an entertainer. Michael’s father was born in Detroit and moved to California at the age of nine. His father was a singer & drummer and served in the Navy. Michael’s parents met as members of a orchestra, his mom was a cellist. Michael’s aunt and uncle were also both musicians as well. So music has always been in his family.
Like his father before him as child his interest in music & entertaining started as a child starring in home movies he created with his brother and cousin as well as playing drums & percussion through out middle school and high school bands. Then in a few cal state and community collages performing in many different musical orchestras, concert bands and symphony orchestras. As a young musician, he has always loved all kinds of jazz music. But Michael had other aspirations on his mind and wanted to be a singer. One problem, he was shy, never being front and center during live performances before as a musician. He joined a local interactive dinner theater company in the down town San Diego gas lamp district, as an actor where he harnessed his skills in front of a live audience engaging them with humorous improvisational skills that he picked up by watching his other very talented cast members seasoned skills. Later he moved on as a solo entertainer. The crooner then started singing and entertaining at public venues, country clubs private events, retirement communities, Italian restaurants and clubs as well as and many more live venues.
As a solo entertainer growing up with a famous last name of Sinatra can sometimes be a blessing and a burden, singing the songs that were made famous by Frank Sinatra for example he gets mistaken as an impersonator with the stage name of Michael Sinatra. Most people think he's joking when he introduces himself as Michael Sinatra, so every time he has to go into the whole explanation. But he doesn't only sing and pay tribute to Sinatra he also covers other songs made famous by iconic figures including Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr.,Tony Bennett, Louis Prima, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, Matt Monro, Vic Damone ,Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, George Harrison, Karen Carpenter, Johnny Cash, John Lennon, Jerry Vale, Al Martino, Rosemary Clooney, Paul Anka, Willie Nelson, Harry Connick Jr., Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Paul Mc Cartney, Elton John, Frankie Valli and Billy Joel just to name a few.
